Week 9 Updates

This week in college football, we had many favorites winning, but still filled with a lot of action. To start things off, we had No. 25 Vanderbilt playing against No. 5 Texas. As we all know, Vanderbilt beat Alabama earlier this year, and was looking to continue their upset run this week in Nashville. Their crazy run would unfortunately end in a thrilling game where Texas won 27-24. This dropped Vanderbilt out of the Top 25 and moved Texas down one spot, despite winning.

Next up, we have Penn State vs. Wisconsin in a Big 10 matchup. Penn State went into this game as the number three team in the country with high hopes of a national championship. They looked to remain undefeated against a tough Wisconsin team. Wisconsin went up 3-0 after the first quarter, but Penn State came back and held on to win 28-13. Penn State remains the number three team in the Top 25 rankings and one of the favorites to win the College Football Playoff.

In the one notable upset we had this week, No. 14 Texas A&M beat No. 8 LSU in College Station, Texas. LSU has been playing really good football since their loss in Week 1 against USC in Las Vegas. They went into College Station hoping to continue this, but ultimately fell short to A&M. LSU was up 17-7 at halftime, but couldn't hang on and lost 38-23.

Last but not least, we have a rivalry matchup that never disappoints. Florida State vs. Miami is one of those games that a lot of people look forward to, even if neither of them are your favorite team. This rivalry is full of hatred for one another and it makes for quality television. In this version, Miami destroyed a broken down Florida State team 36-14.

Week 9 was full of quality games, even if there weren't a lot of upsets, which is sort of refreshing to see, especially this season. We hope they get back to the upsets in Week 10 though, because who doesn't like watching an underdog taking the win?
