Good Games and Upsets (Week 12)

 

            To start things off, we go to Madison, WI where No. 1 Oregon took on and unranked Wisconsin team. Oregon took an early lead against the Badgers after kicking two field goals, making the score 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. Wisconsin would make it interesting though, after kicking a field goal and then scoring a touchdown, making the score 10-6 at halftime. In the second half, Wisconsin would kick a field goal, extending their lead 13-6. That's all the scoring the Badgers would do, but the Ducks came back and won the game 16-13, remaining undefeated and the undisputed number one team in the country.

    

            Next, we head to Provo, Utah where the unranked Kansas Jayhawks took on the undefeated and No. 6, BYU Cougars. Kansas jumped out to an early lead when they scored a touchdown in the first quarter. BYU would come back and kick a field goal and then an unanswered touchdown, making the score 10-7 BYU. At the end of the first half, Kansas would tie it with a last-minute field goal making it 10-10 going into halftime. The only scoring BYU would do in the second half was a field goal in the third quarter, but Kansas scored a touchdown. The final in this one was Kansas 17, BYU 13. Kansas handed BYU their first loss, and dropped them out of the top ten.

            Last but not least, we head to Athens to see Georgia take on Tennessee. This was the most sought-after game of the week, with two top SEC teams going at it. Tennessee would get out to an early lead 10-0, but wouldn't score much after that, other than one more touchdown. Georgia's defense would shut them out in the second half, and their offense took off, eventually winning 31-17. Although the score doesn't seem like it was close, it was a good game nonetheless. 

            Week 12 was action-packed and fun to watch. The college football playoff rankings were shaken up a bit, but for the most part, remained stable. We look forward to more games in week 13!
