Unranked Frenzy: Week 6 CFB
Starting off the madness of week 6, we have Vanderbilt vs. Alabama. Alabama came into week 6 undefeated and the number-one team in the country. They looked to be the clear favorite to go to the National Championship with the help of star Freshman receiver, Ryan Williams, and quarterback, Jalen Milroe. This didn't intimidate Vanderbilt in any way, though, beating them 40-35. Vanderbilt had never beaten an opponent who was ranked No. 1 in the country in program history, so this was extraordinary for them to do.
Next up is Arkansas vs. Tennessee. Tennessee came into this game with high hopes of being ranked No. 1 after this week. This would all change when an unranked Arkansas team held on and beat them 19-14. Tennessee wanted to prove its critics wrong about the assumption that they underperform at least once a year. Unfortunately for them, this will have to wait until next year, although their playoff hopes are still alive and well.
Next up is Washington vs. Michigan in a rematch of the 2023-24 National Championship Game. Washington looked for revenge after getting beat up on by Michigan last year. Michigan, No. 10, looked to defend their title after struggling at the beginning of the year. They were unable to do this though, as Washington got their revenge and won 27-17.
Disappointing. This is what any USC fan would tell you about their game against unranked, Minnesota. USC went into this game as No. 11 in the country and high hopes to make the College Football Playoff. This all got crushed when they underperformed and lost 24-17 to Minnesota. Minnesota may have been unranked, but they made it look like USC was the unranked team.
We look forward to another exciting week of college football! Thank you for reading, come back next week for more updates from around College Football!
