Conference Clashes: Week 7 College Football

This week in college football starts off with the Heisman Trophy favorite, Ashton Jeanty, and the Boise State Broncos beating up on Hawaii in a Mountain West Conference matchup. Normally you wouldn't see a non-Power 5 conference matchup get featured like this, but when your running back is on pace to break history, people take notice. Jeanty has rushed for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns in just six games so far. He is on pace to break Barry Sanders' rushing record set in 1988, which was 2,628 yards. Jeanty is performing at a level we have not seen in a long time, so it is only right to give him the recognition he deserves.

Next up is Penn State vs USC in a Big 10 matchup. It was the two teams' first meeting since the Rose Bowl in 2017 when USC won on a walk-off field goal. Penn State would hope to get revenge on their trip back to Southern California. USC started off hot, leading 20-6 at halftime, but Penn State would get rolling and ended up beating USC 33-30 in overtime. With this loss, USC falls to 3-3 on the year and their College Football Playoff hopes slowly drifting away.

Next, we have another Big 10 matchup with No. 3 Oregon taking on No. 2 Ohio State in Eugene, Oregon. Both of these teams were undefeated heading into week 7, so we were hoping for a good matchup and it did not disappoint. The game was pretty evenly matched, going back and forth all game. Oregon ended up hanging on after a fourth quarter field goal and won the game 32-31. Both teams still have high hopes for a run in the Playoff, but it just got a little harder for Ohio State with this loss.

Week 7 brought us a bunch of action and excitement in just about every matchup. We look forward to another week of college football, as we get closer to crowning another champ.
