A number of highly anticipated college football games took center stage on September 14, 2024, influencing the College Football Playoff competition. Alabama, rated No. 4, shut down Wisconsin 42-10 in a convincing victory, their defense killing any momentum the Badgers could have gained. In a hard-fought SEC match up, Georgia defeated Kentucky 13–12 in a defensive struggle that demonstrated their championship tenacity. Missouri, rated No. 6, defeated Boston College 34–21, riding high on a strong second-half performance to maintain their perfect record.

Alabama's win solidified their position as a national powerhouse even without their hall of fame coach, Nick Saban. Their quarterback, Jalen Milroe, led many scoring drives, while Wisconsin's offense was constantly pressured by the defense, which resulted in multiple turnovers. The Crimson Tide's well-rounded attack demonstrated their desire to still compete for a national championship.

Georgia's tight victory over Kentucky demonstrated their resilience in the face of difficulty. For the majority of the game, Georgia's offense was held by Kentucky's defense, but a pivotal drive in the fourth quarter gave the Bulldogs the victory. Georgia's defense proved why they are still a strong contender when it mattered most, despite their offensive difficulties.

Missouri faced a bunch of backlash from the media for potentially being a fraud, but proved them wrong after a 27-21 victory over a solid Boston College Team. Boston College is currently 2-1 with a win over Florida State and another victory where they put up 56 points and gave up none. This could help Missouri heading into SEC play, where they take on the 2-1 Vanderbilt Commodores next weekend.

Week 3 of the regular season did not disappoint with many great games and exciting finishes. We look forward to another week of college football where #24 Illinois kicks it off against #22 Nebraska in Lincoln on Friday night.
